I've been doing this web and graphic design thing for over 15 years and counting...

...always been driven by the same artistic passion that has fueled traditional artists of the past and present!

Welcome to Raydraws, I am your host Raymond S. Brown III. I've been doing this web and graphic design thing for over 15 years and counting, and while I've grown in the field, I didn't start off expecting to do any of this. In the beginning, writing code, creating digital print layout and web projects were the furthest things from my mind. At the heart of it all though, I've always been driven by the same artistic passion that has fueled traditional artists of the past and present.

As early as 8 years old I remember drawing cartoon characters from television or comic books. I have memories of drawing Mickey Mouse for my second grade teacher's bulletin boards while the rest of the class took math tests. For the record, I was a straight A student at the time and my mom was not accepting anything less that passing grades. My love for art never faded as I would delve into painting and even drawing, on paper and digitally. My career eventually lead me down the path of the tech nerd as I found myself building print and web layouts. I got my start at Cleveland.com, the online home of Cleveland Ohio's main news outlet, quickly going from intern, to full time employee, to a series of leadership roles. Even as the company made changes and eventually merged with the parent company to become the Northeast Ohio Media Group I continued to thrive as a designer and developer until eventually leaving the company and joining with the Cleveland Cavaliers where I currently work as a front end web developer and occasional illustrator.

I still paint quite often and draw as frequently as possible while also building web sites, writing code and all sorts of other things. I've been part owner of an art gallery called Buzz which eventually changed to Nimbis, been part owner of a recording studio where I edited and produced music using programs like Propellerhead's Reason and Avid's Pro Tools, edited video, produced animation and worked with a number of large and small companies on everything from corporate identity packages and logos to ads appearing in magazines and periodicals and everything in between. I've been most recently dabbling in 360 degree video, virtual reality and augmented reality. Above all, I've continued to grow as an artist and learn as often as possible.
