"Big Eyes' is one of my most cherished pieces for a number of reasons. For one, it is the first painting I ever made into prints. When I completed it, it was the first painting I'd ever done that held any feelings of realism to it. I remember while I was finishing the second eye, my friend Russ who happened happened to be there, pulled out his phone and started filming as I continued applying brush strokes, trying to decide where to take it next. The other reason it holds so much importance to me is that it was my mom's favorite piece of mine. I remember when she told me that, I immediately knew what I was giving her as a holiday gift. It played the centerpiece for her living room for the rest of her life from that point.
